Project Overview
Alfred is the proprietary food technology platform used by CloudEats, the fastest-growing cloud kitchen startup in the Philippines. As the business scaled rapidly, Alfred evolved from a legacy internal tool into a scalable platform capable of powering multi-brand operations and enabling future SaaS expansion. This case study covers three product phases: stabilizing the legacy system, integrating third-party delivery APIs, and building a new platform architecture designed for scale.
Scope of Work
Legacy System Maintenance and Feature Expansion
The first phase focused on managing and maintaining Alfred’s legacy system while introducing functional enhancements such as menu engineering and order process optimization. This required deep familiarity with the system’s architecture to avoid disruption while layering in new features that improved usability and performance for operations teams.
3rd Party API Integrations
To extend market reach and streamline operations, we integrated multiple third-party APIs from international food delivery platforms. This required working across different external teams with unique technical documentation and support processes. Emphasis was placed on adapting to external protocols while ensuring Alfred remained operationally efficient and aligned with internal business rules.
Alfred V.2 – Platform Redesign for Scale
As CloudEats moved toward a SaaS model, we led the development of Alfred V.2—a web-based system designed to aggregate orders, centralize menu management, and optimize kitchen workflows. The platform was restructured for modularity, allowing future expansion to support other local F&B businesses. Core efforts included aligning product features with operational needs, coordinating cross-functional input, and preparing the system for future external onboarding.

Outcomes
-
Stabilized a legacy system while deploying critical features without disrupting operations
-
Successfully integrated third-party APIs, enabling access to new delivery channels and cuisines
-
Delivered a modular and scalable platform ready for SaaS transition
-
Improved internal workflows across kitchen operations, menu updates, and order management
-
Strengthened communication channels between product, engineering, external partners, and kitchen ops
Key Takeaways
Managing Alfred across different stages of growth required a balance between system reliability and innovation. Whether maintaining legacy infrastructure or delivering a new platform vision, the ability to communicate clearly across teams, anticipate operational challenges, and structure the product for scale was essential. This experience sharpened my ability to lead platform evolution while staying grounded in user and business needs.
